Which surfboard rack to choose? The guide to choosing the right wall-mounted board rack

Shortboard, longboard, a single board or a whole quiver, living room or garage: the right surfboard rack depends primarily on your situation. Here are the 5 questions to ask yourself before buying a wall-mounted board rack, and the quick answer for each case.

In short: which surfboard rack for which need?

Your situation The right rack
One board, to display in a living area Single surfboard rack (Plastic Series or Wood Series)
Multiple boards (3 to 6) Multiple surfboard rack
Garage, shed, terrace, damp room Plastic Series rack (water-resistant)
Minimalist interior, tight budget Wood Series rack
A skateboard or longboard to display Wall-mounted skate rack (Plastic Series or Wood Series)

1. How many boards do you want to store?

This is the first criterion. For one board, a single rack is enough: it showcases it like a piece of decor. For several boards, it is better to use a multiple rack than a series of single racks: it is more compact and easier to install. At EDERRAK, the multiple rack holds 3 to 6 boards; only the ceiling height sets the limit.

2. What type of board?

A horizontal wall-mounted surfboard rack suits most formats: shortboard, mini-mal, and longboard. It also accommodates a snowboard or a longboard. Just check the maximum load: 20 kg for our Plastic Series single racks, 10 kg for the Wood Series racks, which easily covers the weight of a surfboard.

3. In which room?

This is often the forgotten criterion, and it directly guides the choice of material:

  • Living room, bedroom, entryway: all materials are suitable; the choice depends on the style.
  • Garage, shed, terrace, board room: opt for a water-resistant rack. Our Plastic Series racks can be used both indoors and outdoors; Wood Series racks are for indoor use only.

4. What style for your interior?

A rack stays on the wall all year round: it might as well be one you like. The Plastic Series, made of recycled plastic, plays the card of color and unique pieces (the shade depends on the reclaimed waste: bottle caps, bottles, flower pots...). The Wood Series, in color-through Valchromat wood, offers a more sober and uniform line, in blue, black, red, or khaki.

5. What is your budget?

Surfboard rack + skate rack packs are also available, at €59 (Wood Series) and €99 (Plastic Series), with free shipping.

And the wall?

One last point before ordering: what kind of wall will you fix the rack to? A solid wall (concrete, brick, stone) poses no problem. For a plasterboard partition, you need appropriate anchors: we detail the method in our article How to fix a surfboard rack to plasterboard.

Frequently asked questions

Does a surfboard rack damage the board?
No, on the contrary: the board is raised, safe from impacts and moisture on the floor. Just avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which yellows the resin.

Can you put a longboard on a single rack?
Yes. Our single racks accommodate shortboards, mini-mals, and longboards.

Vertical or horizontal rack?
The horizontal rack showcases the board and distributes its weight over two supports. The multiple rack, meanwhile, stores boards side by side and is not designed for horizontal storage.

Where are EDERRAK racks made?
They are handmade in the Basque Country from recycled plastic or Valchromat (FSC-certified recycled wood fibers).
